Amid the beautiful August weather, the San Diego Convention Center was buzzing with activity. Inspired and motivated people had come from across the country to learn how to improve themselves and their businesses. At the helm of the Mastermind Summit was Master Motivator Brian Buffini, who designed a weekend focused on personal and professional growth.

Vincent and Jane Cyr had planned to attend this year’s event as part of their annual goal setting. They also invited and brought their daughter and son-in-law, who, as Air Force officers, are looking for opportunities to improve their leadership and personal development skills. They were all excited to be at the Mastermind Summit this year to learn from Brian Buffini and the lineup of speakers scheduled for the event. Both Vincent and Jane are dedicated to personal growth and believe the best way to succeed for their clients is to succeed in their business. In this spirit, the team headed to California to participate in the Mastermind Summit.

Who is Brian Buffini?

The Themes of the Summit 

The main ideas of the summit were focused around Og Mandino’s book, The Greatest Salesman in the World. Beloved by audiences across the world, The Greatest Salesman teaches readers how to live a better, more successful life in our modern world by adhering to a few basic tenets that have survived for millennia. It the book, the reader is introduced to the Legend of the 10 Scrolls, a guide of habits that will help lead you to an abundant life.

The 10 Scrolls have been embraced by individuals across cultures, religions, and industries because of their simple, no-nonsense directives. The 10 Scrolls, as outlined by Og Mandino, are:

  1. Today, I begin a new life.
  2. I will greet this day with love in my heart.
  3. I will persist until I succeed.
  4. I am nature’s greatest miracle.
  5. I will live this day as if it is my last.
  6. Today, I will be the master of my emotions.
  7. I will laugh at the world.
  8. Today, I will multiply my value a hundredfold.
  9. I will act now.
  10. I will pray, but my cry for help is only a cry for guidance. (For wisdom, good health, abundance, peace of mind, happiness, prosperity and success, discipline, detachment, discernment, dharma, faith, hope, charity, mercy, and LOVE!).

Already familiar with the 10 Scrolls listed above, Jane and Vincent had the opportunity to learn more deeply from them during the conference. The Brian Buffini Mastermind Summit added context and complexity to the 10 Scrolls with the addition of the 10 Vows of the Rich. The 10 Vows help practitioners to align their attitude and perspective while focusing on the 10 Scrolls’ behaviors and goals.

Of the 10 Vows, Vincent has embraced one in particular,  To Always will I maintain contact, through prayer, with my creator.  Her morning routine of writing in her prayer journal provides her with the knowledge she is part of a larger plan with a greater purpose than she can imagine.

For the duo, the Mastermind Summit was an unparalleled learning experience and part of a long history of self-betterment practices in their business. One of the biggest take-aways for the team was the realization that simply having goals to change your behavior isn’t enough. Your goals will not come to fruition without real changes in what you’re currently doing. In order to actually reach your goals, you need to make specific, actionable changes. These changes need to be written down and posted for the world to see, making them concrete and creating a sense of accountability. This way, these new actions can become hard-wired into new behaviors that drive you towards achieving your goals.
